Semi-rigid polyurethane resin, polystyrene coating - COLTECH C 2205, KIT (A + B) = 5 kg

resin COLTECH C 2205, is a polyurethane resin, two-component (A + B), solvent-free, slightly brushable, specially designed for coating / stiffening polystyrene parts. COLTECH C2205 offers excellent durability, high impact resistance, elasticity, chemical resistance and minimal contraction.

The product is offered in standard cream color. Other colors can be made on request, depending on the quantity ordered.

Polyurethane resin applications, COLTECH C 2205, semi-rigid:

The most popular applications of the polyurethane resin COLETCH C 2205 are:

  • Covering of polystyrene parts (EPS, XPS)
  • Covering of parts of polyurethane (PUR, PIR)
  • Making a protective layer, made by brushing, for different surfaces: - wood, metal, stone, plastic, glass.
  • Use as an adhesive for various materials: polystyrene, wood, metal, etc.
  • Casting parts from the resin, thicknesses up to 1-2 cm.

Advantages using polyurethane resin, COLTECH C 2205, semi-rigid

The integration of Coltech C 2205 resin in your projects will bring the following advantages:

  • Solvent free
  • It is a semi-tixotropic product, which is easy to brush without leaking
  • After hardening has a Shore D = 30, i.e. the product is semi-rigid, preventing the appearance of cracks / cracks at slight deformation of the protected spot.
  • Generous working time up to 20-25 minutes (varies depending on the quantity prepared)
  • peeling and paint
  • Minimum contract (approx. 0.5%)
  • High impact resistance due to permanent low elasticity
  • Chemical resistance
  • Over 10 years of positive feedback around the world.

Polyurethane resin use, COLTECH C 2205, semi-rigid

Surface preparation: Before application, check that the polystyrene (EPS, XPS) / surfaces are free of any moisture (maximum moisture content of the surface should not exceed 4%).
Mixing and casting: Resuspend COLTECH C 2205 Component A well before use. Coltech C 2205 must be stored and used at a temperature above 15 ° C

COLTECH C 2205 Component A and Component B must be mixed with a low-speed mechanical shaker according to the mixing ratio indicated in this technical chart for approximately 2 min. Mixing the components must be done very well, especially on the walls and bottom of the bucket, until the mixture becomes completely homogeneous. After initial mixing of the two components, transfer the mixture into a clean container and mix again for 1 minute to ensure that the components have been thoroughly mixed.

RECOMMENDATION: Use a vacuum machine of adequate size (-1 bar) to remove air bubbles from the COLTECH C 2205 A + B mixture, directly after mixing and before casting.
Apply COLTECH C 2205 resin with a brush on the surface of polystyrene. After 1-2 hours apply the next layer of the COLTECH C 2205 resin. (specific density mix 1.4 kg / litre).

Finishing and dyeing: At 48-72h after application of the last layer of COLTECH C2205, the spot is ready for grinding and painting.
Please use paints that are compatible with PUR resins. We recommend a test of adhesion first.

Storage and safety measures for polyurethane resin, COLTECH C 2205

The galleries should be kept in dry and cool rooms for up to 9 months. Protect material against moisture and direct sunlight. Storage temperature: 15- 30C. The products must remain in their original, unopened containers, bearing the manufacturer's name, product name, batch number and safety labels for application.

FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY.

Preparation and application

  1. Check that the substrate is dry and free of moisture; store and use component A above 15 °C.
  2. Mix component A until uniform and weigh A:B at a ratio of 100:25. Mix slowly for about 2 minutes, transfer to a clean container and mix for another minute.
  3. Brush onto the polystyrene surface. The data sheet specifies applying the next coat after 1–2 hours.
  4. Sand and paint 48–72 hours after the last coat, using paints compatible with polyurethane; first test adhesion on a sample.
  5. The product contains isocyanates and is intended for professional use. Consult the safety data sheet.

Consult the safety data sheet and batch label before use.
